Despite the challenges brought by the June 8 Mindanao earthquake, Alsons Power remains focused on what matters most: its people, its communities, and its commitment to delivering safe and reliable power.
During the Alsons Power Conversation, Dialogues, and Chats (ACDC), the Group’s regular Town Hall Meeting, last July 8, CEO Antonio Miguel B. Alcantara thanked employees for exemplifying what “We Power with Care” truly means, especially in times of disaster. He recognized the efforts, hard work, and commitment of all teams across General Santos and Sarangani who continued serving despite the uncertainty brought by the earthquake and its aftershocks.
“We were not spared from the impact of the earthquake. But from the very moment we learned about it, our priority was our people. Before anything else, we made sure our employees were safe and accounted for,” Alcantara said.
Alcantara acknowledged the remarkable work of the SEC team, which safely restored the Sarangani Energy Plant to full operations on June 23 following the earthquake. At the same time, employees across the Group mobilized relief operations for affected communities, while financial assistance was provided to employees in General Santos and Sarangani to support their recovery.
“Moments like these remind us that our greatest strength is not our facilities, but our people. You have shown that care powers strength, resilience, and recovery. The road to recovery may not be easy, but with care, we and our communities will move forward together,” Alcantara added.
Looking beyond the disaster, the town hall highlighted several key milestones achieved in the first half of 2026—from advancing the Bawing and SPPC Solar projects and securing important regulatory milestones, to strengthening business continuity initiatives, expanding Retail Electricity Supply, earning recognition as one of LinkedIn’s Top Employer Brands, and maintaining reliable operations across the Group.
While the company has made meaningful progress, Alcantara reminded everyone that there is still important work ahead. Improving financial performance, accelerating growth projects, and achieving the Group’s 2026 goals will require every employee to work together and stay focused on delivering results.
Alcantara was later joined by other Company executives for the Power Exchange segment, including Chief Finance Officer and Interim Head of Corporate Services Roberto Joaquin P. Ramos, Senior Vice President and Business Manager for Generations Jose Luis R. Angco, and Vice President for Business Development and Project Execution Jason D. Soberano. Together, they engaged employees in an open discussion, addressing questions on the Company’s performance, strategic priorities, ongoing projects, and other key concerns. The interactive exchange reinforced the Company’s commitment to open communication and keeping employees informed and involved in its journey forward.
As Alsons Power enters the second half of the year, the message is clear: every role matters, every contribution counts, and as One Company, the Group will continue to Padayon.
