For Manolo T. Labor, Senior Industry Relations Manager at Alsons Power, We Power with Care is more than a tagline but a huge responsibility to fulfill.
“Having joined the energy industry during its nascent period, I witnessed how this industry shaped the economic growth of the nation,” Noli, as he is fondly called, reflects. “This brand promise reminds me that we have this huge task of ensuring that we continue to care for the growth of communities by providing the power to create, subsist, be competitive, grow, and excel.”
Joining Alsons Power in 2022 was more than just a career move for Noli; it was a homecoming of sorts. He had spent the early years of his professional life at the Department of Energy, where he built a strong foundation in the power sector. Now, equipped with valuable experience and knowledge, Noli is focused on bridging the gap between Alsons Power and the people it serves, including government regulators and officials, host communities, and key industry stakeholders.
At Alsons Power, Noli helps teams navigate regulatory hurdles by connecting them with the right people and agencies. “Using my network, I help empower team members by opening windows and doors to facilitate dialogue, collaboration, and partnership. I care deeply for team members to have those connections that will help our projects move forward.”
One moment that stands out for him as the company’s Senior Industry Relations Manager was during a negotiation with a host tribal community for a pre-development project. At first, the conversation was stiff and formal. Noli knew something had to change. He suggested moving the discussion to the backyard of the community leader’s home, where they sat on a rain-damp bamboo bench, sipping home-brewed coffee. “I wanted to show them that we were there not just to negotiate, but to start a long-term partnership towards sustainable growth and development,” he shares.
‘We Power with Care’ doesn’t end when Noli leaves the office. Noli believes that living the brand promise outside of work is where it becomes second nature and a way of life, whether it’s showing respect to a building doorman or choosing to buy local products to support small businesses. “When you’re polite to a doorman, you give him pride in his work. When you choose local, you empower artisans and producers.”
When asked how the brand promise influences the way he works, leads, or collaborates, Noli emphasized that collaboration is the purest form of care. “Collaboration means you care that we all grow together, work together, and walk side-by-side with each other toward our business goals.”
Noli is proud to be part of a company where compassion, care for community, responsibility, and commitment to excellence are woven into the culture. “Alsons Power is not just a company; it’s a family. The principals accept you for who you are and recognize you when recognition is due. There are no nameless faces here.”
Noli’s story is a testament to how We Power with Care is not just a corporate promise but a way of life. Through genuine relationships, unwavering commitment, and everyday acts of kindness, he shows that powering with care is the most sustainable energy of all.
