Alsons Power has further strengthened its commitment to developing Mindanao’s future energy leaders as it formally signed its second Cadetship Training Program partnership with Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU–IIT), reinforcing its drive to bridge industry and academe and create more pathways for young Mindanaoans to build meaningful careers in the power sector—following the successful pilot launch with St. Peter’s College in Iligan City.
MSU–IIT brings to this collaboration a legacy of academic excellence. The university holds multiple CHED Centers of Excellence in fields including Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, and Electronics Engineering. It is also a recognized member of the ASEAN University Network – Quality Assurance (AUN‑QA) and continues to gain international recognition in global rankings such as the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, underscoring its role as a center of innovation and learning in Mindanao.
In his remarks, Chancellor Atty. Alizedney M. Ditucalan expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting the university’s role in bridging academe and industry:
“This collaboration reflects our belief in the importance of strong collaboration between the academy and the industry. The university has an active role in exposing our academic leaders to real-world challenges and in shaping graduates who are not only knowledgeable but also industry-ready.”
From Alsons Power’s perspective, Maria Jiji Q. Lara emphasized the company’s commitment to talent development in Mindanao:
“We are proud to deepen our engagement in Iligan City by partnering with MSU–IIT. This Cadetship Program is more than just job training — it’s an investment in the future leaders of Mindanao’s energy industry. By collaborating with a top-tier institution like MSU–IIT, we can help ensure that academic and industry standards are aligned, and that students graduate ready to contribute meaningfully to the power sector.”

A key goal of this partnership is to intensify academe-industry exchanges, providing opportunities for knowledge-sharing and collaboration that align academic programs with industry needs. Sealing another partnership with MSU-IIT represents a strategic step in Alsons Power’s expansion of its Cadetship Training Program, signaling the company’s long-term commitment to regional talent development, particularly in Mindanao.
Alsons Power envisions scaling its cadetship training to more universities, fostering a robust pipeline of future energy leaders rooted in both academic excellence and practical industry experience.
