Alsons Power Group’s Sindangan Zambo-River Power Corporation (SZPC) recently received the Outstanding NGO Partnership Award from the Municipality of Siayan, recognizing its significant contributions and dedication to empowering local communities.

The Pasidungog Award was presented to SZPC by Municipal Mayor Alberto J. Bongcawel during the celebration of Siayan’s 57th Founding Anniversary on June 15, 2024. SZPC Community Relations Associates Sherelyn Secretario and Robelito Paratan accepted the award on behalf of the company.

True to the Alsons Power brand promise, “We Power with Care,” SZPC has been a dependable partner and contributor of the Local Government of Siayan in community development.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, SZPC made substantial contributions to the local community by donating essential supplies, including sacks of rice, mobile tents, and health and medical equipment to the Regional Health Unit (RHU), the Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management (LDRRM) Unit, and the Siayan Local Police. These donations were instrumental in bolstering the local healthcare system and enhancing emergency response capabilities during the crisis.

SZPC has also focused on improving the educational experiences of students in the municipality through its school supplies donation programs. In collaboration with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), SZPC has provided technical and vocational education and training to various communities. Earlier this year, 67 graduates from Barangays Macasing, Datagan, and Pange completed training in Masonry, Plumbing, and Painting. The next batch will include skills training in Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Carpentry, and Electrical Installation. These achievements were made possible through SZPC’s proactive efforts and the establishment of the Tri-MOA Skills Training Program in partnership with TESDA and the Local Government of Siayan.

Alsons Power’s SZPC comprises an 8.8-megawatt hydro power plant and a 29-megawatt solar project in the Zamboanga Peninsula. Guided by its brand promise, Alsons Power continues to unlock potential and empower progress in the communities it serves through a wide range of community development programs and initiatives.
