Alsons Power commits to managing marine sanctuary in Sarangani Bay: Sarangani Energy Corporation (SEC) of the Alsons Power Group is helping establish a new 31.9-hectare Marine Protected Area (MPA) along with a Beach Forest Rehabilitation and Development Project in barangay Malbang in Maasim, Sarangani in joint efforts with the Region 12 office of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). The creation of another MPA in Maasim is expected to jumpstart the establishment of a first-ever Marine Protected Network (MPN) in Region 12, located in the Sarangani Bay which was officially declared protected seascape by President Duterte last July. Showing the signed memorandum of understanding on the MPA are SEC and DENR officials led by SEC Power Plant Manager Jori Liimatta, Regional Technical Director Hadja Didaw Piang-Brahim, and Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer Samaon G. Mama.
