
Alsons Power participates in Guinness’ world record-setting “Treevolution.” The Alsons Power Group participated in the recently concluded “Treevolution: Greening MindaNOW” which beat India’s Guinness World Record for most trees simultaneously planted within an hour. Spearheaded by the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the project was able to carry out its goal by planting 2, 294, 629 trees across 29 locations in Mindanao. Employees from Alsons Power Group companies: Sarangani Energy Corporation in Maasim, Sarangani Province; Mapalad Power Corporation, in Iligan City Western Mindanao Power Corporation in Zamboanga City and Southern Philippines Power Corporation (shown in picture) in Alabel, Sarangani Province were able to plant 5,289 trees across 4 different areas in Northern, Western, and South Central Mindanao. Prior to “Treevolution,” the Alsons Power Group has been consistently implementing sustainable environmental projects that include the Sarangani Energy Corporation (SEC) watershed preservation project to protect the watersheds of the Siguil and Kamanga rivers in Maasim, Sarangani by covering 7,500 hectares with 3 million seedlings of fruit-bearing trees, agricultural crops and forest tree species in a period of 15 years.
