The Alcantara Group is a Mindanao-anchored group of companies engaged in agri-business and aquaculture, property development, power generation and other services in the island of Mindanao and other areas of the Philippines. The Group has played a pivotal role in the economic development of Mindanao for the past six decades.
ACR is the publicly-listed company of the Alcantara Group with subsidiaries engaged in power generation, property development, industrial estate management, and other investments. ACR is listed under the electricity, energy, power, and water subsector at the Philippine Stock Exchange.
ACR’s power generation business unit is a major independent power producer serving over eight million people in 14 cities and 11 provinces in the fast-growing Mindanao region, the country’s second largest island.
ACR plays a key role in providing electricity to fuel Mindanao’s growing population and expanding economy thru power generation and sales to off-takers such as electric cooperatives and distribution utilities as well as the development of greenfield power projects.
The Alsons Power Group’s power generation facilities are presently focused on the island of Mindanao where these plants play a key role in providing electricity to fuel Mindanao’s growing population and expanding economy. The group is currently focused on developing renewable energy projects in various places in the Southern Philippines. In the next few years, renewable energy will comprise at least half of the group’s power portfolio.
The 210-megawatt Sarangani Energy Corporation thermal plant provides power to key areas in Mindanao such as General Santos City, Cagayan de Oro, and Iligan City.
The group currently has three diesel power plants in Iligan, Sarangani Province, and Zamboanga City with an aggregate capacity of 258 megawatts.
The 14.5-megawatt Siguil Hydro Power Plant in Sarangani Province is scheduled to begin operating in 2023.
Siayan Hydro is a combined solar and run-of-river hydroelectric power project in Zamboanga del Norte with a potential combined capacity of up to 37.8 MW.
The Bago river hydroelectric power plant under development in Negros Occidental has a planned capacity of up to 42 MW.
